The design and structural features of forged steel gate valves are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Design features

1. Application and medium adaptability:

Forged steel gate valves are mainly used to cut off or connect the medium in pipelines. They are suitable for the working pressure range of Class150 to 2500, as well as the working temperature range of -29 to 425℃ (carbon steel) or -29 to 500℃ (stainless steel).

Different materials can be selected to adapt to various media such as water, steam, oil products, acetic acid, oxidizing media, and urea.

2. Sealing performance:

The sealing surface of forged steel gate valves is less eroded and washed by the medium, has good sealing performance and a long service life.

When fully open, the sealing surface is less eroded, ensuring a good sealing effect.

3. Fluid resistance:

The internal medium passage of the forged steel gate valve body is straight-through. When the medium flows through the gate valve, its flow direction does not change, so the fluid resistance is small.

Structural characteristics

1. Valve cover design:

Bolted valve cover: The valve body and the valve cover are connected by bolts and nuts and sealed with a wound gasket (such as made of 316 clamp flexible graphite).

Welded valve cover: The valve body and the valve cover are connected by threads and fully welded for sealing.

Pressure self-tightening valve cover: The valve body and the valve cover are connected by threads and sealed with an internal pressure self-sealing ring.

2. Gate and valve body:

The gate is vertically placed inside the valve body and its structural length is relatively short.

There is no relative sliding between the gate plate and the sealing surface of the valve body, so the wear and scratches are not serious.

3. Overall Structure:

Forged steel gate valves have a simple shape, short structural length, good manufacturing processability and wide application range.

Most forged steel gate valves are designed with a reduced diameter. Compared with cast steel gate valves of the same diameter, their flow rate is slightly smaller, but they can withstand a higher range of pressure and temperature, and have better sealing performance.

Precautions

When installing forged steel gate valves, their installation position, height, and inlet and outlet directions must comply with the design requirements, and the connections should be firm and tight.

2. Before installation, the valve must undergo an appearance inspection and ensure that the nameplate of the valve complies with the current national standards.

3. For valves with a working pressure greater than 1.0MPa and those that play a shut-off role on the main pipe, strength and tightness performance tests should be conducted before installation. Only after passing the tests can they be put into use.
